The CAVIT Graphic Design class couples creativity with marketability by instructing the artistic student in how to use a variety of commercial processes to take his work to places it hasn’t been before. Everywhere you look, today’s world is enhanced by the work of a graphic designer— posters, magazine/advertisement layouts, brochures, t-shirts, CD/DVD covers and much more. Moving from paper and pencil to desktop publishing and through the printing process, CAVIT Graphic Design gives students ample opportunity to develop the professional portfolio that will guarantee them a career in this exciting and in-demand field. CAVIT's lab includes both Mac and Dell computers and a 6-station t-shirt screening press.

  • Grade Levels: 11-12  
  • This program is designed to be completed in two years.
  • CAVIT will award a certificate of completion to students successfully completing the two year program.

The student will develop skills in electronic publishing, layout, composition, and paste-up. Techniques will be applied in creating and formatting a variety of publications with imported data/graphics using resources such as the Internet, scanner, etc. The student will research and apply copyright laws, ethics and language arts skills with reference to electronic publishing.



  • Must be a full-time student at one of the five participating satellite school districts. 
  • Display a good attendance record.
  • 2.0 GPA
  • Two credits in English

Through a Tech Prep articulation agreement with Central Arizona College, students in the second year graphics design class are eligible to earn free college credit. The college defines entrace requirements that students must meet before the college will grant college credit. Students are responsible for meeting those requirements and completeing a separate college admission process.

Salary Range averages between $13.00 - $21.00 hourly.






Any 11-12th grade student enrolled in CGUHS, CHS, FHS, or SCVUHS school districts can attend.
